Our History

Boulder County Arts Alliance (BCAA) is the oldest multi-discipline arts service organization in the county.  It was founded in 1966 as a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization by a group of Boulder citizens who were inspired by the creation of the National Endowment for the Arts. In 1984, the Neodata Corporation donated a building that was subsequently sold to establish the Neodata Endowment for the Arts.  BCAA has since administered the Endowment funds on behalf of the Boulder County cultural community.  In the early 1990s, BCAA staff, board members and volunteers organized citizen committees to develop the Boulder Cultural Master Plan. This plan helped evaluate arts resource needs.  Throughout its history, BCAA has offered substantial professional development and expertise to the Boulder County's arts community through its programming and services.

The present staff and board of directors are dedicated to maintaining programming and services tied to the mission of the organization.  Current activities focus on staying attuned to the concerns of the community and restructuring programming as necessary to provide greater opportunities to service the Arts in Boulder County.
