Milash Representational Painter Award
The BCAA/Milash Award is designed to award the work of a representational painter. One award of $1,000 will be made annually. The application deadline is Thursday, May 1st at 5pm in the BCAA office.

History of the Milash Award
The Milash Award is funded by a private donation from Tom Read, a Boulder Resident, in memory of his friend Todd Milash, who was a representational painter. The Milash Award has been offered to artists in Boulder County since 1999.
Past award recipients include: Ernest Porps (1999), Ben Brown (2000), Leah Bradley (2001), Robert Spellman (2002), Buff Elting (2003), Claire Evans (2004), Elizabeth Black (2005), Dawn Siebel (2006), Ken Bernstein (2007). The 2008 recipient is Irene Delka McCray.
Guidelines
Application Process: Download the application and complete and turn in along with requested materials by the application deadline. Five finalists will be selected for interviews. During the interview, finalists respond to questions from the panel, provide additional information on the slides submitted, and are encouraged to bring actual examples of their work.
Eligibility: All applicants must:
- Be a Boulder County Arts Alliance member.
- Be a Representational Painter.
- Have been a resident of and creating in Boulder County for one year.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
Students enrolled in an art degree program are not eligible.
501(c)(3) status is not required to apply for this award.
Evaluation Criteria:
- Artistic excellence
- Extensive body of work
- Plans or goals for the future
- Contribution to the Boulder County arts community and or community at large
