Art on the Walls Exhibits

The next application deadline is Monday, September 15, 2008, at 5 p.m. for January through June 2009 exhibits.

Boulder County Arts Alliance offers a unique opportunity for two-dimensional artists to exhibit their work in the Barnes & Noble Cafe in Boulder (2915 Pearl St.) and the Boulder Public Library Bridge Gallery and the McGuckins Design Center. Click here for upcoming exhibit schedule.

Barnes & Noble will host an opening reception for each artist on the first Tuesday evening of the month of their exhibit. BCAA will issue press releases to the local news media, BCAA members, and list the exhibit dates along with artist's statement and picture of the art on the BCAA website. BCAA also produces a postcard featuring 6 month's worth of artists and their work. Each artist receives 100 postcards  to mail to their friends, family, and patrons. Postcards are postage-paid for those artists exhibiting at Barnes & Noble.

This opportunity is available to artists residing or working in Boulder County. All applicants must be current BCAA members.

  • Selection of the artists and the work is the responsibility of representatives from BCAA, Barnes & Noble, the Boulder Public Library and community visual arts professionals.

  • Applicants need to complete the Art on the Walls application which asks for a brief paragraph (no more than one page) describing the medium, content, and scope of their work. Include the title of proposed show and media. Include 10 images on CD of the work you wish to show. If selected for exhibition, then any substitutions must be approved in advance by the panel. CDs will be returned to you if you provide a self addressed stamped envelope.

  • The artist will keep 75% of the exhibit period's gross sales of artwork, cards, prints, etc. The artist will give 25% of the exhibit's gross sales to BCAA. The artist is responsible for monitoring sales and providing BCAA with a check for the appropriate amount at the end of the exhibit period. An evaluation form must also be completed at the end of the exhibit period.

  • The artist assumes all responsibility for insuring work during the exhibit period. Neither BCAA nor the intended venue will assume any liability for the artist or the work.
