Starfish Film LLC is a Denver-based production company bringing the feature film Starfish to life. The project is led by writer and director Micah Groenevelt, an award-winning filmmaker and founder of RedMane Entertainment, with over 15 years of experience crafting both commercial and narrative work. Joining him is producer, writer and award-winning composer Jeffrey Carabelos, with five years experience writing music for film and over 12 years raising funds and managing organizations.

Together, the creative team behind Starfish brings a deep well of experience, with credits spanning A24, Netflix, Neon, Ubisoft, and Riot Games. Their work has earned more than 40 awards and over 45 million online views. The team’s collaborative spirit and sharp execution were showcased in the Starfish proof-of-concept short Tenkara, produced on a tight budget and featuring six-time Emmy Award winner Scott Takeda.

Starfish is a visually rich, emotionally layered sci-fi drama told in three chapters. It follows world-class scientists Marie and Jonah, whose groundbreaking research in cloning and memory challenges everything we know about love, loss, and identity. The film explores the human cost of second chances through deeply intimate performances, organic cinematography, and an original score built from glass instruments and other handmade textures.
