In her spare time; a collection of Sydney Hope's creationsSydney Hope’s original jewelry designs and handcrafted pieces have been featured at Boulder Arts And Crafts Gallery since 1973. “In her spare time” she continued to stretch her artistic vision with paintings, pastel drawings & sculptures from found objects & made of ceramics. Sydney's current special show at the gallery is a sampling of many of these explorations. In these pieces, she has used chalk pastels, acrylic paints, recycled & rusted materials, dried seeds, feathers, beads & weavings from other countries. Inspired by plant shapes and the natural world around her mountain studio, Sydney’s work also incorporates designs and motifs from Art Nouveau, Impressionism, prehistoric Aegean art, Greek art, Egyptian art, music, dance, dress & textiles. Syd says, "I am a fan of gesture, art that conveys a mood, attitude or feeling." Sydney will be relocating to CA, being a camper trailer vagabond in the area between Morrow bay and Santa Barbara to find a place to settle for health reasons, and will be selling her much loved, whimsical and artistic mountain home. Please come & celebrate this rich history of Sydney's creations & find a treasure for yourself amongst her many different gestures & fantasy. The show runs from June 30 through August 2. We celebrate Sydney & her art-making on Friday July 2nd from 6-8 pm at our First Friday Reception. Monday, August 02nd, 2010
