Stax

Stax is a solo show by the former curator of the St. John's Art Gallery, Caroline Thompson.  Caroline's new collection is a diverse fusion of abstract canvases.  The three-dimensional pieces, a harmonic convergence of angles and color, have a sculptural quality.  For Caroline, each piece is “a puzzle created out of different pieces of art to form a distinctive expression of unity."  Her work really is as playful and compelling as a game of chess.  Using only the imagination, the observer wants to stack and re-stack the canvases before concluding that each piece is a perfect convergence of elements   Having a splendid color pallet and an eye for design, Caroline has moved into a new realm of abstraction with 3D canvases merged in artfully arranged angles.
