An exhibition of hand woven art tapestry titled “Flower Garden,” by Elaine Nixon is on display in Gallery I of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) July 26 – August 28. The artist creates her tapestries in the ancient Aubusson tradition from France and uses a variety of types, textures, and sizes of yarns, dramatic color patterns, and 3 dimensional elements.  The exhibit features tapestries of a monarch butterfly and 17 flowers including a rose, sunflower, tiger lily, and red-orange poppies each of which has received national recognition in juried shows in the past two years. The public is invited to the opening reception on Wednesday, August 4th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the NCAR gallery.
