Bomba and Plena are two traditional music Genres from Puerto Rico.

The instruments for Bomba are Puerto Rican drums, cuas and a maraca.  Everyone is involved while doing Bomba, therefore, in essence, Bomba provides to build up a musical community.

The instruments for Plena are Puerto Rican Panderos and guiro.  Sometimes the Puerto Rican Cuatro and a Guitar are incorporated in Plena.  Plena is a very upbeat Genre, based on comments or narrative songs.

Barrio e' is providing classes in Boulder, Colorado for the first time!

Come and learn exciting Rhythms of Bomba and Plena (percussion, dance, and songs). Lyrics are in Spanish, but don't worry... we teach you how to say/sing the words/songs).

We encourage diversity in our group in every way!
