Vocalists in Grades 6-12

The Longmont Chorale would like to invite you to participate in the 12th Youth Vocal Competition to be held on Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Longmont, Colorado.  The competition is open to all vocalists in the 6th-12th grades, with the following categories: 1) Female voices in grades 6-9, 2) Male unchanged voices in grades 6-9, 3) Female voices in grades 10-12 and 4) Male changed voices.

This is an adjudicated and critiqued event and winners will perform an American folk song or patriotic song at Longmont Chorale’s gala and concert, “From Sea to Shining C”, to be held Saturday, May 1, 2010, at the Radisson Conference Center, Longmont.  There is also a monetary award of $100 for 1^st place and $50 for 2^nd place in each category. 

Each participant is required to sing one piece of music from the classical styles of literature, which include art song, oratorio and opera.  See the application for further details.

Please pass this information on to any vocalist or music instructor with students who might be interested in participating in this competition.  Copies may be made of any information included with this letter.
