Business of Arts for Youth Crafters

Where: This program takes place in two different locations. The Business of Arts Workshops will take place at NoBo on the Corner (4600 Broadway). Participants will join the NoBo First Friday Market at the Thistle Community Gallery (4871 Broadway, Boulder)

BCAA strives to stay attuned to the evolving needs of artists, both professional and emerging. It recently came to our attention that a group of middle school age, prolific crafters were interested in learning the business skills needed to sell their work. In response, we are building a program around youth entrepreneurship as an extension of our Business of Arts professional development program.

Those who complete the program will have an understanding of basic business concepts, including sales and marketing, presenting demos and teaching aspiring crafters, creating promotional videos, budgeting and more.

The structure of this program will be highly experiential, involving the youth participants in nearly every aspect of program content and design. The main program components will include:

• Two workshops where the youth participants will learn the fundamentals of entrepreneurship as an artist. These workshps will take place at NoBo on the Corner.
• Two NoBo First Friday Art Markets where participants will practice the skills learned through selling their artwork as vendors. These markets will take place at the NoBo Bus Stop Gallery.

This is a unique opportunity to acquire a wide range of business skills, specifically designed to appeal to young people. Sliding scale fees available; no one will be turned away for inability to pay.
