The discussion will cover general grant writing practices and strategies applicable to any grant proposal. The panel will touch on funding priorities, donor relationships, DEAI, collaborations, and more, followed by time for Q&A. RSVP required.

Our presenters: 

Kathy Kucsan -- Dr. Kucsan has over twenty-five years of experience in the nonprofit arts world. She is Co-Founder and former Education/Artistic Director of the Rocky Mountain Center for Musical Arts (now part of the Colorado Music Festival). She has over 35 years of music teaching experience, from K-12 through the undergraduate level. She was an active performer (oboist) and is a former member of the Boulder Philharmonic and Sinfonia of Colorado. She is an active presenter, and has given grant workshops for Boulder County Arts Alliance, the University of Colorado College of Music, and other local organizations. Kathy has served as the Boulder County appointee and Vice-Chair to the Scientific & Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) Board of Directors. She is the Chair of the Advisory Board to the American Music Research Center (AMRC) at the University of Colorado School of Music. Past service includes seven years on the Boulder County Cultural Council and four years on the Arts & Culture Advisory Committee at the Denver Foundation

Alison Palmer - Alison Palmer Bourke is a producer and a non profit executive based in Denver, CO. She serves as Development Consultant for Local Theater Company, an award-winning and nationally recognized Boulder-based new play incubator dedicated to amplifying and adding new voices to the American theater cannon. Alison has written successful proposals for city, state and federal granting orgs including the NEA, The Guggenheim Foundation, SCFD, Bonfils Stanton, The Denver Foundation, BAC, BCAA and The Community Foundation. 

Crystal Polis - 

My experience comes from working in large and small institutions and includes grant writing, development, exhibitions, collections management, and historical research. I have worked in museums and arts organizations in Philadelphia, Cleveland, and Washington, DC.  From 2014 -2020, I was the Communications Director for Boulder County Arts Alliance.

In 2020, I started my own business because I want to help creative people thrive. I have written successful grant applications for the SCFD, Colorado Creative Industries, Boulder Arts Commission, Boulder County Arts Alliance, Community Foundation Serving Boulder County, Lafayette Arts and Cultural Commission, Longmont Foundation, Redline Contemporary Art Center, and more.
