Upcoming Business of Arts Workshops

Is Fiscal Sponsorship Right for You?

April 20 from 11am - 1pm

Boulder Creek Room, Boulder Public Library, 1001 Arapahoe Ave

You may be an independent artist or run your art business as an LLC or C Corp. Hear how becoming a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization or seeking a fiscal sponsor, like BCAA, would open up opportunities for grants and charitable donations, especially in the current political climate. Find out the pros and cons between the two and what makes sense for you. Presented by Ken Ransford, practicing attorney and CPA, and Kathy Kucsan, Ph.D. of Integrity Arts.

Photoshop for Beginners

May 10 from 11:00am - 2pm

Boulder Creek Room, Boulder Public Library, 1001 Arapahoe Ave

Learn about several popular Photoshop tools and how to work your way around the interface/workspace, re-sizing and cropping images, making fliers, and other skills to help you complete simple design tasks on your own. We will then switch gears to explore design principles, and how good design can augment your marketing strategy. And finally, we will move to the topic of hiring a designer – where to find designers, how to discuss projects with designers, and how to build a positive and effective partnership. You will walk away with practical skills, sustainable strategies, and further resources to help you keep things going (on a budget!). Presented by Lisa McClellan of LTrades.

Thank you to the City of Boulder, Office of Arts and Culture for supporting BCAA's Business of Arts Program!

Colorado Mosaic Artists

Current Exhibition "Earth, Air, Fire, Water" at NCAR through June 2, 2017

There will be an Opening reception with light appetizers and live music on April 7 from 5-8 pm as part of Boulder Arts Week.

In an unprecedented move, the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder (NCAR) is hosting an art show of 21 Colorado mosaic artists covering both galleries at their facility.  These artists are from the non-profit group Colorado Mosaic Artists (CMA) which includes professional mosaic artists, dedicated amateurs, enthusiastic hobbyists and suppliers.  One section of this show has the theme “Earth, Air, Fire, Water” which displays one piece from each artist, while the rest of the vast space will showcase a body of work from each member.  Overall, this is the largest show that CMA has ever shown!

The Colorado Mosaic Artists utilize a wide range of materials and concepts and incorporate a variety of ancient and modern techniques to express their unique visions. Each mosaic is distinct; comprised of glass, ceramic, stone, mirror, and other objects. CMA members support one another, educate the public and promote mosaics as fine art through exhibits, meetings, demonstrations, and workshops. New members are welcome.

BCAA Featured Venue - Still Cellars

The BCAA Facilities Directory is a great resource for finding meeting and event space in Boulder County.  It is a comprehensive guide that lists dozens of auditoriums, dance studios, non-traditional spaces and outdoor settings.

This Month's Featured Venue:

Still Cellars, 1115 Colorado Ave, Longmont
Contact: (720) 204-6064 or Email

BCAA is looking forward to hosting this year's Annual Meeting and Grant Reception at Still Cellars, a distillery and arthouse in Longmont, on Monday, May 22 from 6-8pm.
Tucked away in an unassuming corner of Longmont, Colorado, Still Cellars is a true micro-distillery, conceived and constructed by its two owner-operators, Jason R. Houston and Sadye Rose W. Still Cellars is certified organic, conducts business responsibly and kindly, and has been working to create a space that fosters and supports local art and community since early 2014. Thank you for that!
The arthouse and spirits reflect the owners’ passion for creativity and quality. The duo lovingly hand-craft each spirit from scratch using traditional methods and uncompromising standards. Each product artfully celebrates the complexities of its original ingredients, and offers a truly unique sipping experience. The arthouse acts as the distillery’s tasting room as well as a venue for local and touring artists to exhibit and perform for the community. Still Cellars is open to the public two days per week for tastings and cocktails, and is otherwise available for performances, events, gatherings, and tours by appointment.

Drop on in for some sips of their uniquely handcrafted organic spirits, cocktails, and non-spirituous concoctions… and enjoy art on the walls of this unique, cozy, and inspiring arthouse.
