BCAA Endowment Project Grants

Read the complete guidelines and find online application here.

Deadline to apply is Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 5 pm.

During the summer/fall funding cycle organizations and individual artists may apply for Project grants. Individual artists and organizations may only receive one grant per calendar year and may not receive grants in two consecutive cycles.

Project grants will be awarded to support artistically excellent work that has a broad impact on the community. Impact may include outreach efforts, audience education, collaborations, and partnerships. Individual artists may include equipment in their project requests.

BCAA is able to offer additional grant awards and increase the funding cap to $5K in 2017 thanks to the support of the Hemera Foundation, which supports innovative organizations and initiatives that foster basic human goodness in individuals and society. In the arts, Hemera supports visionary emerging projects and those at a critical stage in their development.

BCAA needs grant panelists to review applications! Are you culturally competent? Is your organization not applying this cycle? Consider being a grant panelist! It is an excellent way to see what makes an excellent application and to better understand the process. If you are interested, please contact Charlotte LaSasso, BCAA Executive Director.

If selected, the fee to participate is $20 BCAA members/$40 non-BCAA members.

Volunteers for set-up are needed. It's fun! Email BCAA if you are available to help from 11am - 1pm.

Who's in the Limelight?

Mintze Wu

Violinist, Founder and Director of Sounds of Lyons

MinTze Wu is a violinist of many passions. She has been heard on stages from the pubs in Poland, opera houses in Italy, concert halls in Australia, US, Taiwan, and the remote villages in Newfoundland. She had performed as a member of Azmari Quartet, Sarasota Opera, San Diego Symphony, and Australian Chamber Orchestra, and from 2004-2007 she was a full-time faculty at Northern Kentucky University. She has been active in presenting, performing, and creating music projects inspired by different genres, cultures, and traditions. A graduate from Cleveland Institute of Music, she has pursued an interesting career exploring possibilities of expression in classical music, with notable projects such as Peer Gynt, Death of the Pugilist, Metamorphosis, Carmen Fantasy, You Better Watch Out, The Kiss, Earth Program, and the Passage series. On her bucket list are hiking the Colorado Trail, dancing the Tango, and making pottery.

In 2009, Wu founded Sounds of Lyons, an organization that presents extraordinary musical experiences to the community of Lyons and beyond. This festival is rooted in the belief that music transcends boundaries of genre, class, and tradition. Through creative programming, Sounds of Lyons explores possibilities of uniting different musical elements and incorporating theatrical narratives or visual images in a singularly dramatic and transforming experience.

Beginning in 2016, Sounds of Lyons collaborated with BCAA to present Arts on the River at River Bend. We are so pleased to do it again in 2017. Sounds of Lyons will provide musical entertainment from 2:30 -3:30 pm at Arts on the River on Sunday, August 27. Mintze will play violin along with Matthew Dane on viola and Sarah Bieber on cello. Dancers from Mayama Movement Studio in Lyons will accompany them.

New Art Space Directory

Submit your Venue and Art Space and connect with creatives!

Read the FAQ

The new Art Space Directory is a matchmaking tool to connect creative people with creative art spaces.  Owners and managers of rentable spaces submit listings to the directory, and space-seekers search the directory for opportunities. Use of the BCAA Art Space Directory is completely free of charge for space-seekers, and there are no fees to submit and publish listings.

It contains a list and map of venues with art spaces with photographs and detailed information. A Venue is a physical location on the map. It’s a building with a unique street address, and contains one or more art spaces. An Art Space is a rentable room (hall, auditorium, outdoor area, suite of rooms, or part of a room) at a venue location. The space is the thing you are renting and is what space-seekers are seeking. Art spaces must be associated with a Venue. You must first create a venue before you can submit a space.

By using your BCAA log-in to our website, you can upload information for your venues and art spaces and make edits any time. You do not need to log-in to browse or search the Art Space Directory.
