Courtney is the co-founder of Inspire Arts Consulting and serves as the Executive Director for St. Martin's Chamber Choir. Inspire Arts works with small to mid-size arts organizations and helps build sustainable organizations so that everyone can access and engage in the arts. They believe that art cultivates community and belonging for all, and that small to mid-sized arts nonprofits provide a unique entry point for budding artists and arts access for everyone. Tell us a little about your career? I began my professional career as a wedding and portrait photographer, growing my own business from the ground up. After completing a degree in psychology I took the skills I gained launching and running my own business and moved into nonprofit management. I have spent the last six years in progressive leadership roles within the nonprofit sector, specifically in the arts working with the Boulder Chamber Orchestra, Sciento Baroque Ensemble, Longmont Symphony, and Pro Musica Colorado Chamber Orchestra. I specialize in creating structures and strategies that lead to success and sustainability, and I really enjoy helping teams and leaders reach their full potential and grow their impact. How did you connect with the arts? My personal arts background comes from a life-long love of song. A mezzo-soprano, I began singing at the age of six. I was an active member of various choirs and did several solo performances. The arts in all forms have always been a passion for me, providing a way to navigate and make sense of the world. My connection to classical music specifically stems from my grandmother, who played it every morning during summer visits. My husband is a ceramic artist who has been featured in juried shows nationwide and my home is filled with art from both local and national artists. What are the others thing that you enjoy? In my free time, I enjoy running, playing tennis, hiking, and biking, and attending art events with my husband.
