At the Tuesday, Aug 3 city council meeting, the following ballot measure will be considered for the November election. CALL TO ACTION STEPS: Communicate the following suggested points to City Council: 1) We support the extension of the .3% tax, but the naming should remain as the Community, Culture, & Safety Tax so that arts and culture remain at the forefront of/are prioritized in future investment decisions. 2) We support 20% of the budget allocated to arts and cultural organizations to fund large scale investments as well as smaller projects. The entire arts and culture community would help convince voters to approve the tax. 3) We would suggest that funds be made available to support arts and cultural facility expansion efforts currently underway as well as to identify and advance to the 'shovel ready phase' inspirational and community-wide projects for the future. 4) The City's Cultural Plan is due to be refreshed in 2022. Further investment in the arts should be informed by this rigorous analysis of the arts landscape and community aspirations. Undoubtedly, this planning process will identify venue and facility needs fundamental to the community's interest. Council can be contacted in the following ways: 1) Write an email to council@bouldercolorado.gov 2) Call a council member if you have a personal relationship with them to discuss your concerns and ideas. 3) Sign up to speak at the public forum on Tuesday evening, August 3.
