Get Ready for Colorado Gives Day
Tuesday, December 8
24 Hours starting at 12:00 am on December 8

Colorado Gives is an online giving website featuring over 1,700 Colorado nonprofit organizations. Made possible by Community First Foundation since 2007, ColoradoGives.org encourages charitable giving by providing comprehensive, objective and up-to-date information about Colorado nonprofits and an easy way to support them online. Even though it is a year-round program, there is a lot of hype that goes into Colorado Gives Day, including a $1 Million Incentive Fund made possible by the Foundation and First Bank. At the completion of Colorado Gives Day, the Foundation will determine each nonprofit's proportionate share of the Incentive Fund by dividing the total amount each charity raised by the total amount of donations to all participating nonprofits. This amount will then be multiplied by the total amount of dollars in the Incentive Fund.

If your nonprofit organization is registered with Colorado Gives Day, make sure you utilize everything in their Nonprofit ToolKit.  You will find links to the logo, tips for social media, Spanish language materials and more.

If you are a Fiscal Sponsee of BCAA, direct your donors to BCAA's Donate Now button (use this link or find it on our homepage) where they can make tax-deductible contributions to you, through us. Tell your donors to specify that the donation is for your organization in the Special Instructions section. Please request donations of at least $15.  Due to fees from the Foundation, BCAA loses money on fiscal sponsee donations of $10 or less. Donors can schedule their donations early or do it on December 8!

Write Your Marketing Plan for 2016

Thursday, December 3 from 11:30 am - 1 pm
Louisville Center for the Arts, 801 Grant Ave, Louisville

Register here.

Come prepared to write a Marketing Plan for 2016! Our presenter is Cindy Sewell Hohman who runs her own company called Focus on Marketing.

Bring something to write/type with and your questions about marketing. Cindy will give you a worksheet that you will use to answer questions and take notes. Expect to walk away with the foundation of a marketing plan.

Even if you don't expand on the document you start at the workshop, you will leave with a deeper understanding of your patrons, your opportunities, and ideas to help grow your business and increase revenue.

Cindy has been working in the arts for nearly a decade. With experience in small arts organizations, large cultural institutions, and everything in between, she brings a wealth of experience to the table. Her non-profit and arts experience includes positions with the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver, Art Students League of Denver, Denver Art Museum, and Colorado Music Festival and Center for Musical Arts. She holds a Master of Science degree in marketing and brand management from the University of Colorado Denver and serves on the board of Denver's Art District on Santa Fe.

$10 for BCAA Members/$15 non-BCAA members.

Thank you to the Louisville Center for the Arts for being our host venue!

Martha Kate Thomas Fund for Artists

New Round of Applications now Open
Deadline to apply is Monday, December 21, 2015 at 5 pm.

Read more and apply here.

BCAA was very pleased to be able to offer six artists funding this fall through this unique opportunity, made possible by a bequest from Martha Kate Thomas and our partnership with the Community Foundation Serving Boulder County. We are now opening a new round of applications.

Grants from this fund will be awarded to artists who live or work in Boulder County and who have unforeseen needs due to special circumstances. Grant awards will not exceed $3000. Unforeseen needs due to special circumstances may include loss of equipment or supplies, and unplanned expenses due to natural disaster, debilitating illness, accidents and more. Priority is given to applicants that are not eligible to file insurance claims or who may be eligible but coverage is inadequate to cover the loss.

Thirsty Artists Hour

Request for Proposal Form
Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis until February 1, 2016.
If you've ever run or watched the Bolder Boulder 10K on Memorial Day, then you know about the bands that line the course, as well as the colorful personalities. For the second year in a row, BCAA is getting in on the action, by partnering with them to add more artists to the scene.

For 2016, BCAA will be able to offer three artists or art organizations a stipend for performing at the Bolder Boulder. These three will be selected through a Request for Proposal process.

This is an exciting opportunity to show Coloradoans how ART and BUSINESS and SPORT can partner together for the good of the whole community.

Two Great Ways to Contribute to BCAA
Don't Forget BCAA in your Year-End Giving!

1) Donate to the Community Arts Fund

Help us reach our goal of $500! We're almost there! You can make a tax-deductible contribution online. Each time a contribution is made to the fund the amount is automatically recorded and tracked. You can see the donation tracker on our homepage. When the fund reaches the target amount, a Request For Proposals (RFP) will be advertised to the BCAA email list and posted to the BCAA website homepage.

The last organization to benefit from the Community Arts Fund was Boulder Opera Company, who used the money to present "Intro to Opera" workshops at no cost to the schools.

2) Designate BCAA as the recipient of your Amazon purchases through Amazon Smile.

Start your holiday shopping at: www.smile.amazon.com. You can now select Boulder County Arts Alliance from the register of charitable organizations.  Then you continue shopping normally, but when you check out, Amazon will donate 0.5% of your purchase to BCAA.  There is no cost to you.  Amazon does all the donating.

Who's in the Limelight?
Bahman Saless, Conductor, Composer, Music Director
Boulder Chamber Orchestra

Bahman Saless was a member of the Boulder Philharmonic orchestra before founding the Boulder Chamber Orchestra.

The Orchestra, initially conceived as a project to practice conducting with, has now become a staple of world-class performances in Colorado and beyond, gaining national recognition from coast to coast.

As a composer, Bahman Saless has scored more than a dozen nature documentaries as well as many Hollywood trailers and teasers. Saless’ conducting career took off when he started his studies with some of the great conducting teachers including Kirk Trevor, Donald Schleicher, William LaRou Jones and Tomas Netopil.

Saless has proven himself to be not only a talented and passionate conductor and composer, but also an organization builder; an artist with creative vision as well as a leader with business savvy and an entrepreneurial mind that can take orchestras to the next level, wherever that might be.
