Using a contemplative approach to artistic expression, this experiential Contemplative Art Retreat Day will give you the opportunity to discover new aspects to your spiritual journey. We begin the day promptly at 10am and finish up between 3 - 3:30 pm.

At the two art sessions, using oil pastels, you will explore ways to access your creativity, support your artistic style and express your heart-centered perspective through drawing what is important to you.

In between the morning and afternoon sessions, we will drive to a nearby restaurant to enjoy lunch and build our artistic community.

Art is the perfect metaphor for the contemplative experience. As you begin to draw with the oil pastels, you will quickly discover you can trust your inner intuitive process to create a drawing you had no idea you could complete when you began.

No art experience is necessary to enjoy this workshop to create a drawing using oil pastels.

For participants with no art-making experience, you will have the opportunity to discover your creativity in a safe, supportive environment.

For experienced artists, the workshop will expand your creative experience to include a meditative approach to your personal expression.

Saturday, March 2
Exploring The Thresholds on Your Spiritual Journey
We will look at the meaning of "Threshold" and use it to examine, through non-verbal expression, what "thresholds" you have stepped through this past year, or, what "thresholds" you are planning to walk through this year on your spiritual journey. You create your own "threshold" and that is what makes contemplative art so exciting.

Saturday, May 11
Creating Your Personal Labyrinth for Your Spiritual Journey
We will explore the different types of Labyrinth and use these forms to create your personal labyrinth to non-verbally describe your spiritual journey. You create your own labyrinth and that is what makes contemplative art so exciting.

(This Retreat Day follows "World Labyrinth Day" scheduled for the previous Saturday.)

Saturday, August 3
Examining Spiritual Symbols to Express Your Spiritual Journey
We will review the 5 International Spiritual Symbols and their meanings and then use these symbols singularly or in combinations to extend the meaning of our spiritual journey. You create your own symbols and that is what makes contemplative art so exciting.

Saturday, October 12
Drawing Your Inner Landscape
An inner landscape is not necessarily a landscape. An inner landscape can be anything you want it to be. We will be expanding the concept of landscape as wide as we can. And that is what makes contemplative art so exciting.

At the end of the day you will have completed at least two oil pastel drawings.
