Boulder based Producer and guitarist John March is proud to announce that he will be hosting and producing a new monthly Jazz Concert series at the Wesley Chapel in Boulder; “Jazz at the Wesley.” Beginning in January 2019, and then the fourth weekend of every month after that. The new series will feature some of the best local, and visiting national jazz musicians available, and will be performing at the Wesley chapel in Boulder.

The idea of the project is to create a listening environment for improvisational music at the highest possible level. The impetus for the project came from years of performing in venues where the principal focus of the events was driven by the needs of the venues rather than the artistic experience. Clubs and performance venues have very specific requirements that need to be met in order to generate enough revenue to support live music.

Mr. March realized that it might be interesting to create a performance environment that was under the direct control of the artists themselves. To that end he has rented the performance space at the Wesley, on a monthly basis, for the next year. Once a month he will bring in different artists, singers, instrumentalists, and combinations of musicians to explore music for the pure joy of exploration. All funds generated through ticket sales will go directly to the musicians. John has rented the venue at his own expense and is working with local sponsors like; ALOC media, (who will also be there recording the events through high level video and audio), and other local business owners/sponsors.

The first show will be January 26 and be featuring the incredible jazz vocalist Robert Johnson and a fantastic backing music ensemble featuring: Adam Bodine on Keyboards, Dean Oldencott on Drums, Blake Eberhard on Bass and John March on Guitar. The evening will be an exploration of Jazz and R&B. (John and Robert have collaborated on numerous successful music projects and are excited to be working to develop and produce this series.)

A message from John: "I really believe that it's important to continue to evolve and develop unique and intimate Live music opportunities for the local Jazz and Blues community. When I first started playing music in Boulder in the early 1980s there were so many venues that supported this kind of exploration. I want to remove the agenda of marketing and economics and create a really unique series of concerts that will support creative expression and invite audiences to experience this level of creativity in an intimate space.”
