Two new exhibits featured at NCAR: Original abstract oil and mixed media paintings by Kathy M. Friesz. Works of mixed media, digital, ink and paint by Mark Ludy.

A Colorado native, Kathy M. Friesz currently resides in Denver. Kathy’s formal education at The Colorado Institute of Art, where she studied graphic design and interior design, allowed her to pursue a career as the owner and primary designer of her own firm for over 20 years. Her professional interior design experience has significantly influenced her sensibilities in achieving strong paintings. Friesz’s work will be on exhibit in UCAR Gallery l of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) December 31, 2017 to March 02, 2018.

Mark Ludy is inspired to tell stories through his art and illustrations, evoking thought, emotion and humor, lifting the chins and ultimately the hearts of his audience. Much thought is brought to bear upon each piece as well as sound effects. While he says his education is suspect, his drive and body of work are not. He has illustrated 12 picture books, written another six books and is always creating. He lives in Longmont, Colorado with his wife and children. Ludy’s work will be on exhibit in UCAR Gallery II of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) December 31, 2017 to March 02, 2018.

NCAR's Mesa Laboratory is located at 1850 Table Mesa Drive in Boulder. Its galleries and Visitor Center are open to the public on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on weekends from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There is no charge for admission.
