Inspired by our decade-long collaboration through Striding Lion, a Chicago-based performance group, Amanda Berg Wilson and Ben Berg Wilson founded The Catamounts, a Boulder-based performance group dedicated to creating boundary-defying, progressive, contemporary performance through a collaborative process that integrates theater, music, and dance. Amanda Berg Wilson is The Catamounts' Artistic Director. In both the Catamounts’ professional productions and in our educational residencies, we will endeavor to broaden the experience of live performance and the relationship between artist and audience.
Our seasons will consist of professional productions ranging from contemporary plays saturated with collaboratively developed original music and dance to group-devised works integrating theater, music, and dance. We seek to build audiences who desire their performance-going experiences to be challenging and original. The signature of our productions will be our passionate, multi-talented, professional ensemble; original, collaboratively developed live music; energetic dance and movement; a willingness to tackle the unique and complex; and a commitment to both the visceral and intellectual experience of performance. In our educational residencies, our professional ensemble will lead students of all ages through the empowering process of creating original, collaboratively developed, interdisciplinary performance.
