Life is beautiful and sacred.  I celebrate that in my artwork through my use of color, light and shape.  When I was a child, my favorite color was "sky blue pink" which I made by mixing the right amount of blue and pink with just a touch of yellow.  Of course, crayons don't really mix very well and that was my only available medium back then.  Now I enjoy mixing and playing with my colors in several mediums.  Pastel has been my favorite medium for years.  I love the immediacy of holding the color right in my hand and using my fingers to move the colors around the support.  Yes it can be dirty and I end up with it all over my clothes most days, but I love it.  I also enjoy the dryness of the medium.  There is no waiting for layers to dry which means I can paint with clean crisp color without having to wait for the materials to catch up with my mind.  I love to paint outdoors (plein air) and this dry medium is great for that.  I enjoy creating both landscape and figurative paintings and hope that both genres give you the feeling of sacred beauty that I find prevalent in the world.
