Splintered Light Theatre presents:

Never Again the Same: a shadow puppetry retelling of Little Red Riding Hood for adults

Adapted from a short story titled, "Detours" Written and Narrated by Sarah Elizabeth Schantz
Puppetry and Imagery by Andryn Arithson and Emily Saavedra

Pre-show and post-show music by The Musical Talents of PAN.

This is a surreal, lyrical, and strangely beautiful suburban fairy tale for adults. This shadow puppetry retelling of Little Red Riding Hood lives in the place between dreams and reality. This is a story of initiation, the timeless tangle of growing and the way life repeats itself.

Splintered Light Theatre is a new theatre company devoted to the art of live storytelling using puppetry, masks and movement.

Sarah Elizabeth Schantz is interested in the evolution of the fairy tale, over time and across culture, and how these retellings change the archetypes of the collective unconscious and how this shift might alter the conscious collective. Her first novel, Fig, comes out from Simon & Schuster this April.

Andryn Arithson is a theatre artist with a keen interest in puppetry and its ability to convey metaphor, fantasy and the non-human. She enjoys designing, building, and manipulating puppets in both conventional and experimental fashions.

Emily Saavedra is most interested in art that resonates. Emily is inspired by watching ordinary objects come to life and how in its often wordless simplicity, puppetry has the ability to speak to our basic humanness and our understanding through feeling.
