Description

The Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission (LCAC) is pleased to announce the opening of Arts in the Community Mini-Grant cycle.  Arts in Community Grants are available to local individuals and organizations for the 11th year in a row. Individuals or organizations may apply for a grant to support arts or culture-related projects within the community.

The LCAC awards money, usually not exceeding $1000 per grant, to fund projects which will directly benefit the city and residents of Lafayette.  The grant application is available from the City of Lafayette website; www.cityoflafayette.com/grants. Grant applications will be accepted from February 10 – March 30. All projects receiving grant money need to be completed by December 31, 2015.

In the past Arts in the Community Grants have funded Alley Art Amazin' which provides supplies to paint murals on garage doors in the alleys of Old Town; the Poets Coop TV Show which features local poets on community access television; the Kaleidescope Concert Series at RMCMA; and many other programs that assist local artists to bring all forms of arts to a wide and diverse audience.

According to Susan Booker, Cultural Resources Coordinator with the City of Lafayette, more than 25 grants have been awarded for community art and cultural projects over the past 11 years.  “This is a great opportunity for the many local artists and organizations that help to make Lafayette a creative, diverse and eclectic community.  LCAC is in full support of this community identity and continues to nurture cultural endeavors in Lafayette,” said Booker
