By James Goldman

Directed by Rick Bernstein

King Henry II of England has three sons by Eleanor of Aquitaine: Richard, Geoffrey and John. He wants the kingdom to stay united after his death, but all three sons want to rule and it is likely to be torn apart by revolution. Henry favors the youngest son while Eleanor favors the eldest. The middle son hopes to play both ends against each other and come out on top. Henry would like to have another heir by his mistress, but that would only add to the contenders. Uneasy is the head on which the crown lies, and uneasy the truce between a matchless king and queen.

Director Rick Bernstein brings together the dynamic cast of Emma Messenger (Eleanor of Aquitaine), Andrew Uhlenhopp (Henry II, King of England), Danielle Vivdarttas (Alias Capet), Jeff Jesmer (Richard), Thomas Jennings (Geoffrey), Jonathan Hallowell (John) and Drew Hirschboeck (Philip).

American playwright and screenwriter James Goldman, brother of screenwriter and novelist William Goldman, was most noted as the author of “The Lion in Winter” and author of the book of “Follies.” Goldman worked on many projects with his brother William and with musical theatre greats John Kander and Stephen Sondheim. His screenplays include the 1968 release of the Award-winning The Lion in Winter, They Might Be Giants, Nicholas and Alexandra, Robin and Marian and White Nights. Goldman's work included adaptations of Oliver Twist, Anna Karenina and Anastasia: The Mystery of Anna Anderson.
