"Open Boulder" Video Project

Printer-friendly version
Description

Open Boulder and Open Boulder Foundation are requesting proposals for an ongoing video project intended to provide a mechanism for Boulder residents to present their ideas, dreams, and concerns about the city’s future to their fellow residents. The videos will be unscripted but edited, prompted by the videographer, and modeled after classic “man (or woman) on the street” interviews that are staples of video journalism. Tone can vary from humorous to serious. Open Boulder’s goal is to open eyes to the wide variety of world views of Boulder residents outside of the Council Chamber/Letter-to-the-Editor milieu, and we do not pre-judge the substance of what is said/presented.

The project has two phases, one an initial phase that will last 3-4 months and produce 40-50 videos, and another that is ongoing and dependent on funding. There may also be a third stage that goes beyond the City of Boulder to County residents and other cities.

Deliverables

Initial Phase will produce 40-50 short (2 minutes max, but most will be as short as 30 seconds, subject to artistic judgment) videos with residents’ responses to pre-written questions. Legal releases will also be required for each participant. Videos will be edited to maximize impact, and introduced with a branded, short promo for the project. Second Phase, if funded, will be ad hoc and focused on specific issues coming before the city. Minimum spec should be 1080p (though 4K better) with files in QuickTime ProRes 422 HQ or better.

Elements of RFP

Please respond in no longer than 2 pages with your relevant background, up to 3 links to completed work, and a narrative of how you propose to complete the project (especially what kinds of people you propose to interview, where and when). Please cost out the Initial Phase only, including time spent crafting questions with Open Boulder, time on site, and editing.
