The Pre-Professional Intensive at CCD prepares its most advanced students for careers in dance, while the Boys’ Scholarship Program creates a fun, challenging environment for male dancers.
Broomfield - July 11, Colorado Conservatory of Dance, formerly the School of Ballet Nouveau Colorado, will be holding auditions for both its Pre-Professional Intensive and Boys’ Programs for the 2015-2016 school year.
Designed for highly advanced middle and high school students heading toward a career in dance, the Pre-Professional Intensive (PPI) combines extreme technical rigor and the real-world experience. With a focus on personal attention and working toward individual goals, this program is the ideal preparation for students headed into dance companies and college dance programs.
Through online schooling or special arrangements with their local schools, students are able to be in the studio 35-40 hours/week, giving them the experience of being a working professional dancer. Says student Brooke Gilliam: “Broomfield High School understood how important dance is to me, and that doing PPI would help with my other classes and help me achieve my goals after high school.”
Augmenting these advanced students’ full-week evening course-load, PPI classes and rehearsals focus on individualized technical development and refining artistry and execution. Students grapple with advanced concepts and vocabulary, build strength and stamina, and develop important rehearsal and performance skills. Solo and small-group repertory projects push students’ individual abilities, and unique performance opportunities showcase the students in a variety of settings. The program emulates a professional company environment, building skills and experiences that will help students navigate the professional dance world with confidence and expertise. CCD is seeking advanced students ages 13-18, who exhibit not only an aptitude and passion for ballet, but exceptional manners and conduct in and outside of the classroom. PPI auditions will take place at CCD on July 11 from 11:15 AM until 1:30 PM.
The Boys’ Program at CCD is designed to be fun, energetic and physical. Gentlemen learn bravura turns and jumps, and work on strengthening the muscles they will eventually use to partner women. CCD is auditioning boys and young men ages 10-18 for potential full or partial scholarships in the coming school year. Qualified candidates will love to dance, show a willingness to learn in a disciplined environment, have excellent manners, and will exhibit potential in the field of dance. The Boy’s Scholarship auditions will take place at CCD on July 11. For students with dance experience, auditions will run from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, and for those without experience, auditions will run from 3:30 PM until 5:00 PM.
Featuring a world class faculty including CCD CEO & Artistic Director Julia Wilkinson Manley, CCD faculty members Alexandra Niemeyer and Patrick Mueller, and guest artists, CCD’s Pre-Professional Intensive and Boys’ Program are raising the barre for dance training on the Front Range.
