My name is Bruce Lloyd Kates, I am a composer and songwriter living in Los Angeles, my place of birth, and the material I write, though all original, is a harking back in style and sensibility to American and European popular music of the 1930s. A critic at the Hollywood Reporter called my style of writing "The Vanguard of Nostalgia."
Much of what I write has a very danceable feeling to it. Having had serious walking problems most of my life, I seem to visualize myself dancing when I write music!
The thought came to me of posting this announcement and seeing if there might be some of my material might be of interest to dancers and choreographers. I am seeking no reimbursement for the use of my material.
