Foothills Art Center - Call for Entry

Printer-friendly version
Description

The Engaged Object exhibition will explore how fine craft artists are using jewelry, ceramics, glass, wood, textiles, and other fine craft processes to make social and political statements. Throughout history, craft has played a significant role in radically re-imagining existing societies and has been deeply involved in transforming ideas about a variety of economic, political and cultural issues. This exhibition will expand the public’s view of the role of fine craft as it both reflects and influences our ideas, viewpoints, and attitudes and will be of particular interest to visitors during the 2016 election year.

Foothills Art Center (FAC) has invited some of the most important craft artists working today who address political and social issues through their work. Invited artists include Al Farrow, Ron Geibel, Charlotte Kruk, Robert Mickelsen, Ann Morton, and Richard Notkin. The remaining works will be selected by FAC curator, Marianne Lorenz, and FAC Exhibition Manager, Becky Guy.
