Robert has practiced and taught Buddhist meditation for forty years. He was director of Dorje Khyung Dzong, a rural retreat center, and Karma Dzong, an urban meditation center in Boulder, Colorado. Graceful Appearance shows 24 pure, unobstructed, unblocked images in the Miksang Contemplative Photography tradition by Michael Wood and Julie DuBose. Miksang is a Tibetan word that translates as ‘Good Eye’, and is based on the Shambhala and Dharma Art teachings of the late meditation master, artist, and scholar Chögyam Trungpa, Rinpoche. “Good” means that the mind is uncluttered by preoccupation, relaxed and open. Its innate nature is clear, brilliant, and extremely precise. When steady mind, clear vision and soft heart come together in one single moment, ‘Good Eye’ manifests

Michael Wood is the original founder and principal developer of the Miksang Training Curriculum. He is one of the originators of the Contemplative Photography movement in modern photography and has been developing, practicing and teaching Miksang Contemplative Photography for the past 30 years in North America and Europe.

Julie DuBose is the Co-Founder and Director of The Miksang Institute for Contemplative Photography and Miksang Publications. She began co-teaching with Michael in 2005 and for the last ten years has been collaborating in the development and refinement of the Miksang Training curriculum. Julie became a student of Tibetan Buddhist meditation master Chögyam Trungpa in 1975. Further information about Miksang Contemplative Photography, courses, and books is available at miksang.com.
