HILARIOUS POLITICAL COMEDY “NOVEMBER” OPENS AT THE AVENUE THEATER

The Avenue Theater presents David Mamet’s hilarious political comedy "November," returning to the Avenue Theater for a five-week run, April 22 through May 21. Performances are Thursdays (May 12 and 19), Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m.; Sundays (beginning May 1) at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $27.50 and available by calling 303-321-5925 or online at www.avenuetheater.com.

Heralded as “delightful, wild and brilliant” by the San Francisco Chronicle and “extremely funny” by The New Yorker, the play tells the story of incumbent President Charles Smith’s frantic but losing campaign to win a second term. His poll numbers are “lower than Gandhi’s cholesterol,” and his big-money contributors won’t return his calls. He and his aides concoct one desperate scheme after another to attract campaign funds – even soliciting a multi-million-dollar bribe in return for pardoning the Thanksgiving turkey.

“There’s one laugh after another in this show,” said Avenue Artistic Director John Ashton, who also directed the play. “The way Mamet makes fun of political shenanigans is very satisfying, especially for those of us who’ve been following the primaries.”

The production stars Kevin Hart, repeating his award-winning role as President Charles Smith, and features an ensemble of popular comic actors, including Eric Mather, Amie MacKenzie*, Bernie Cardell (as the Turkey Guy) and Sam Gilstrap (as Chief Dwight Grackle).
