Ten by Sixty by Lindy Chambers is inspired by the invisible beauty of the Texas countryside, populated by mobile homes, abandoned vehicles, wild animals, and an abundance of garbage. The artist's paintings envision a rural landscape whose beauty is comprised of elements, such as colorfully painted mobile homes, which are often willfully ignored or overlooked because of their transient nature and poor, working-class connotations. Chambers instead puts these homes on display, inviting viewers to consider more in depth the resilient people who live in these rural environments. In this series of paintings Chambers combines realistic and abstract techniques, juxtaposing monochromatic elements with intense, vibrant colors in order to highlight the alternative beauty of these forgotten landscapes.

Lindy Chambers is a contemporary painter from Jackson, TN, who currently lives and works in Belville, TX, painting scenes and landscapes of her rural surroundings. Mobile homes, detritus, goats, chickens, and dogs are some of her subject matter. She has been featured in numerous group and solo exhibitions across the United States, and recently received the Alexander Rutsch Award and Solo Exhibition for Painting in 2015.
