In the summer of 2015, Hawkley created Hitch Gallery—a mobile, experimental art space attached to the back of his car. Using found objects reflecting the community at-large, Hawkley created spontaneous compositions where and when the objects were found. Second Rodeo takes these same objects, and transforms and reworks them for a formal exhibition.  For “Tarp,” Hawley takes a worn, blue plastic tarp that was used to wrap around objects for Hitch Gallery, and turns it into a stunning work of art that stands on its own. By seeing the new life of the found objects, along with a photo series of Hitch Gallery, viewers can expect to be challenged about where and what art can be.

"This exhibition shows two different ways of working. The photo series is from a show I had last September where I collected random objects and strapped them to a wall I built for the back of my car. I changed the object out every few days to stay loose and experimental. Once that show ended I starting thinking about what I could make from the objects. I took time to think about, look at and handle the materials as I made decisions. The reanimated objects are much more considered then they were in their initial showing. Both ways of working are important to what I do."
