GOUACHE PAINTINGS BY JULIE LEIDEL

Julie Leidel has been painting for more than 25 years, but it was only when she discovered the Arts & Crafts Movement (1880-1920) that she truly found her artistic voice. The Arts & Crafts style has been a muse on her shoulder for over a decade, and her love story with this period-style artwork started with a home renovation in 2005. She fell in love with the architecture -- the furniture, pottery, and lighting that, when brought together, make a house a home. Leidel’s work will be on exhibit in UCAR Gallery I of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) August 1, 2016 to September 29, 2016.

PHOTOGRAPHIC PRINTS BY NORMAN KOREN

In 2003 photographer Norman Koren wrote a program to answer questions about lens sharpness and camera quality and launched a software company that keeps him busy to this day. He photographs when he can, focusing on intricate, often overlooked details of nature, particularly the abstract designs formed by lichens on rocks, which evoke realms beyond their subject matter—mysterious planets, magical eggs, and sacred mountains to mention a few. He finds it gratifying that he can use the technology he helps to advance in his “day job” to enhance his artistic creations. Koren’s work will be on exhibit in UCAR Gallery II of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) August 1, 2016 to September 29, 2016.
