Scarlett Kanistanaux is a sculptor living and working in her Erie, Colorado studio. She received a degree in Art Education from Western Washington University. Presently, her work is represented by Fine Arts Associates, Boulder. Sacred Journey presents simple yet moving portraits of young monks and nuns inspired by the Buddhist tradition that Scarlett has created in clay (and cast in bronze). Coupling the medium of ‘living’ clay with a unique method of sculpting from the ‘inside out’ seems to breathe life into these still ones. “I am amazed that the monastic simplicity of an ancient culture could show up in the twenty first century, with all of its rich symbolism intact.  The monks and nuns of today, adorned with the same shaved heads and modestly draped robes as their ancestors, are an enduring reminder to humanity that the practice of loving kindness, forgiveness, and compassion are as essential today as they have always been.”

Paula Gasparini-Santos was born in Vitoria, Brazil and currently resides in Boulder, Colorado working on her Masters in Art Therapy. Her work in Finding Peace in Chaos is expressionistic, and utilizes poetic verse intertwined amongst bright colors and abstract figures and shapes. The medium of Art became a journal and mirror for self-reflection. Upon canvas, her virtues are written, her doubts and fears are shared, and her true self is revealed and transformed into the ideals of Beauty and Truth. Paula states, ‘I believe that within us lies the keys to fulfillment; but discovering our true self is the hard path we walk to get there. Creativity becomes the stepping stones that offer support, healing, and direction.”
