There's always a killer
So logically someone has to die
We sing the Murder Ballad's warning
There but for the grace of God, go I
On Saturday, September 24 there is a special cabaret performance at 11:45 p.m. (no 8 p.m. performance).
"Murder Ballad"is the dramatic story of a love triangle gone wrong centering on Sara, an uptown girl who seems to have it all, but whose downtown past lingers enticingly and dangerously in front of her.
Conceived by Jonathan Larson Award winner and two-time Susan Smith Blackburn Prize finalist Julia Jordan with book and lyrics by Jordan and music and lyrics by indie rock singer/songwriter Juliana Nash, "Murder Ballad"is a steamy and fun thriller with a razor's edge.
Sara and Tom are a hot item, Tom can’t commit, Sara finds Michael to get married and have a baby, Sara gets bored and calls Tom, Tom falls back in love, Michael flips out, Sara breaks it off with Tom to stay with her husband and child, Tom won’t have it and stalks Sara. Someone must die. All of this is told by a narrator who has secrets of her own.
Long time Arvada Center and Denver Center favorite Shannan Steele stars as Sarah, Kent Randell, last seen in Edges' "By the Waters of Babylon" is cast as Tom. Singer, actor, director Robert Michael Sanders has been cast as Michael and Mary McGroary, who has performed on stage most recently at Candlelight Dinner Playhouse, Town Hall and BDT Stage, is our Narrator.
