Description

Call for Entries:  Hear Our Voices Art Project

Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence (SPAN) is proud to host its inaugural Hear Our Voices Art Project & Exhibit in October 2016.  This project is dedicated to giving artistic representation to the experience of surviving and transcending intimate partner violence.  You do not need to be a survivor of violence in order to participate; people of all backgrounds and experiences are welcome to submit a piece of art for consideration.

Projects chosen for HOV will be given a $100 stipend for materials. Proposals are due Tuesday, September 6, 2016.  Read the full Call for Entries:  http://tinyurl.com/ham7lxu

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and artwork from the Hear Our Voices Project will be on display online and at an art exhibit and fundraiser for SPAN on Thursday, October 27.

Each year SPAN provides services and support to more than 2,000 people in our community who have been impacted by violence.  The experiences of these people reflect the diverse realities, backgrounds, and logistical challenges survivors face.  The Hear Our Voices Project will tell some of those stories through visual arts, including (but not limited to) painting, drawing, mixed medium, textile, and sculpture.  Visit www.safehousealliance.org for details or email alexandra@safehousealliance.org.
