How do you define treasure?

"The Fortune Teller's Fortune: A Tale from Nicaragua" is a Central American tale which explores how taking control of our lives can lead to happiness. The production incorporates elements of the celebration of Palo de Mayo (Maypole).

Director Patti Murtha has engaged the stellar cast ofFaith Angelise, Scott Glennon, James Lafton, Christin Mason, Rekha Ohal, Michelle Pantle and Jaycee Sanchez.

The founders and artists behind The Betsy Stage introduce The BiTSY Stage.

Through the process of storytelling we can find commonality and community. We provide high quality, FREE theatrical productions for the whole family. Our adaptations of international folktales celebrate the things we all have in common while exploring the differences that make our world so rich.

From Page to Stage: A BiTSY Theater Intensive for Young Artists

Join us for a 3-day intensive exploration of the theatrical process of adapting a story for the stage.

Students of all experience-levels ages 4th-7th grade are invited to work alongside professional actors, directors, playwrights, and designers to create their own version of our upcoming production of "The Fortune Teller's Fortune". They will then have the opportunity to watch a free, private performance of the show, including being able to watch the company warm-up and prepare beforehand and participate in a question and answer session afterward.

The workshop will run Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, September 28-30 from 6:00pm-9:00pm. Cost is $75 per student with scholarships available based on need. For more information or to register for this creative opportunity, please contact patti@bitsystage.com.

The Betsy Stage will still be producing Shakespearean adaptations from time to time so keep an eye out for those! The [innovative] Betsy Stage 2013 production of "Juliet & Romeo: The Panopticon" took place in an Orwellian environment under the watchful eye of panopticon cameras. In November 2013, The Betsy Stage adapted "King Lear" and put his three favorite "working girls" to the test as he divided his kingdom in "The Travesty of Lear."A nightmare journey that starts as a model of innocence descends into destruction and despair for the painter "Beth" in their April 2014, all female adaptation, of "Macbeth" and the October production of "Hamlet" placed in a gypsy camp. Last year Betsy Stage delighted audiences with the spoofical, demi-musical "Othello."

Appropriate for all ages. Please note: there is no late seating for this show.
