For kids!  In English or Spanish!  The Lafayette Youth Poetry Prize is open to youth (K – 8th grade) living in or attending school in Lafayette.

Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission and ARTS!Lafayette are proud to announce a call for entries to the 2017 Lafayette Youth Poetry Prize. All entries are due April 7, 2017; at noon.  The Lafayette Youth Poetry Prize (LYPP) aims to cultivate and inspire poetry while celebrating Lafayette’s commitment to community arts. $340 will be given out in prize money.

The Lafayette Youth Poetry Prize is open to youth (K – 8th  grade) living in or attending school in Lafayette.   The youth entries will be divided into three age categories, with a Spanish Language and English division at each age level.  Cash prizes will be awarded at each level.  All styles, themes and lengths are welcome. High school students and adults are welcome to enter the Michael Adams Poetry Prize later this year.

The finalists at all youth levels will be invited to read at a public event at The Collective Community Arts Center located at 201 N. Public Road at 2pm on April 29, 2017.

All entries must be received by April 7; at noon.  Entries may be hand delivered to The Collective, mailed or emailed. Entry forms and additional info may be found at www.cityoflafayette.com/LYPP
