The Arts Longmont Gallery, in downtown Longmont announces What Unfolds in the WESTend and all new work by our resident artists in the Main Gallery. The Arts Longmont Gallery is a collaborative nonprofit artist gallery in downtown Longmont where local artists display and sell their work. For the community, it is the Gallery where they can view and buy local art ranging from jewelry to abstract paintings. While the Main Gallery is a member gallery not all members show at the same time, so each exhibition is fresh and new. The WESTend is a dedicated space within the Gallery created to provide a space for diverse well-known to emerging artists with a variety of themes and are local to national and international artists.
What Unfolds when four artists inspire each other via telephone art?
Arts Longmont’s upcoming exhibition, What Unfolds, is a unique creative process and installation by four local artists. Visual artist Diane Martonis’ paper installation provides the impetus for a written response by poet David Bailey. The poems were then sent to visual artist Becky Hawley. Without benefit of seeing Martonis’ original paper installation, Hawley created a response—also in paper. That art work only was viewed by poet Marj Hahne who, in turn, responded with poetry.
All four artists then bring their work to the gallery to install in the same progression—visual, paper artist to word artist to visual artist to word artist. The visual artists have been charged with incorporating text into their work; the poets have been asked to include a visual element.
And the process will “unfold” –changing with each artist’s sensibility and medium.
To push the creative envelope even farther, singer/songwriter Tim Ostdiek will respond in music to the installation by composing a piece to be presented at 2nd Friday on April 14. Additionally, the four artists will create a collaborative piece which will be installed by the April 14, 2nd Friday.

In the Main Gallery…
Our gallery artists bring a variety of styles and mediums including hand blown glass and ceramics to jewelry, painting and photography. This month’s featured artists include 2-D artists Keith Sanders, Bob Maynard, Valorie Hillerich and Linda Sole Faul as well as jewelers Katherine Ware-Wolneiwicz, Linda Sole Faul, Tammy Helart and Connie Garcia. Additionally, there is work by 3-D artists Terry Crook and Angelo Ambrosia. Both exhibitions run through April 29, 2017.
