Stratus Chamber Orchestra

With Stories on Stage & Matt Diekman, Viola

David Rutherford, Music Director

The missing musician still has not turned up prompting a permanent reconfiguration to the orchestra. Rather than bringing peace, this small act seems to create more angst for the mystery plagued troupe. At least for some.  See who will stay and who…will go.  Stratus Chamber Orchestra and soloist Matt Diekman perform Creature of Prometheus by Beethoven, Suite for Viola and Orchestra by Michael McLean, Symphony #1 by Sergei Prokofiev and Voyage for Flute and Orchestra by John Corigiliano as the mystery resolves.

In this episode, with new twist on music and performance, Stories on Stage actor Chip Persons reads a murder mystery that has unintended consequences for members of the orchestra. Celebrating their 16th Season, Stories on Stage has renowned actors bring stories to life by combining literature with theater.

The season-long series explores a single narrative through four episodes/concerts - a story line developed through music, acting and story-telling. Stratus borrows the highly successful television series concept, in which each episode/ concert is self-contained while at the same time functions as a chapter in a story arc that lasts throughout the season.
