Pro Musica Colorado Chamber Orchestra is hiring!

Title: Communications, PR, & Marketing director

Consults with: Music director (until an Executive Director is hired) and Board President

Coordinates: Volunteers on PR elements

Status: Part-time, hourly, Independent Contractor

Pay: $25 hourly, hours negotiated in advance (in the past it’s been approximately 40 hours per concert).

Summary: The Communications Manager works in collaboration with Music Director and Board to plan and execute communications, public relations, and marketing in both traditional and social media, promoting concerts, fundraisers, and PMC’s brand.

Key areas of responsibility include the development of communications and public relations plans, developing and maintaining relationships with the media, and coordinating digital print media, all to support ticket sales and fundraising efforts. Updating the website (SquareSpace) and skills in Google Grants Ads for nonprofits is a plus. The candidate must have good writing and proofreading skills.

Tasks: See that press releases are written and released 4-6 weeks before concerts with notes to editor and reporters encouraging coverage of the concert. Follow up with any media interest such as interviews with the conductor, soloists, or composers. Plan and execute the development and distribution of mailings, flyers, blogs, web, eBlast, Social Media, and respond to resulting emails or phone calls.

PMC has past content plans, designers, and printers to expedite the work.

PMC does more new and diverse music than any orchestra in the region and the candidate should be highly enthusiastic about supporting musicians and composers who are women, LGBTQ+, and BIPOC, along with the beloved traditional canon.
