Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMoCA) is searching for a qualified candidate for the part-time employee (up to 20 hours/week) position of Art Educator/Education Coordinator.

BMoCA Art Educators deliver high quality art education experiences to K–12th graders and adults. BMoCA’s seven outreach education programs take place in various schools, libraries & assisted living facilities, as well as onsite at the museum. 

Job Roles Include:
Teaching Contemporary Classroom Programs:
Contemporary Classroom is BMoCA’s K-12 school outreach program in schools around the Denver/Boulder area, and held onsite at the museum. The Educator will teach programs in schools located in Boulder, Adams, and northern parts of Arapahoe & Jefferson counties. Schedules & school locations will be determined throughout the academic year.

Managing ArtStop on the Go Program
ArtStop on the Go is BMoCA’s program in collaboration with Broomfield Library. We supply Take & Make art kits, and lead monthly on site craft activities at several mobile home communities in Broomfield & Boulder counties. 

Coordinate Art Activities for Festivals & Special Events
Organize and manage on site craft activities throughout the year at festivals or events which may include: Día de los Muertos, Día del Niño, Boulder Farmers Market and other events to be determined.

Education Coordinator Role
Assisting with ongoing administrative support for BMoCA’s seven Outreach Education Programs including scheduling, grant reporting and tracking, program research, and cultivating and sustaining relationships with schools and outreach partners.

This position reports to the Outreach Education Manager.

BMoCA is searching for a well-qualified, enthusiastic candidate with experience in art and/or museum education, with specific interest and experience working with students in K–12th grades. Non-profit administrative work experience is a plus.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
For Contemporary Classroom Program:

  • Planning, developing, and teaching high-quality art programs in assigned schools.

For Art Stop on the Go Program:

  • Creating Take & Make art kits (in collaboration with BMoCA education staff) and delivering to various locations in Broomfield County
  • Leading informal art activities at several locations in Broomfield County

Festivals/Special Events

  • Creating all ages art activities that are appropriate for outdoor/public settings.

For Education Coordinator:

  • Helping with a wide variety of administrative tasks

Other Duties:

  • Management and organization of art supplies/materials for all programs;
  • Arriving at all assigned locations on time and prepared;
  • Collecting and reporting accurate attendance numbers for each program;
  • Informally documenting program sessions;
  • Staying in regular communication with the Outreach Education Manager
  • Acting as an ambassador for BMoCA 

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience in art education; formal or informal experience working with K–12 students required (teaching certification not required)
  • Classroom management experience
  • Experience developing arts-related curriculum
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities 
  • Past administrative & scheduling experience preferred
  • Consistent access to a laptop computer
  • Familiarity with Google Suite, especially Google Docs, Sheets and Slides
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to multiple locations 
  • High level of professionalism
  • Some proficiency in Spanish language a plus
  • Ability to lift/safely carry up to 50lbs of weight; ability to routinely walk up & down stairs and perform routine physical tasks.

Hours & Schedule: Variable, approximately 20/hours week

-This job has a dynamic work schedule that requires flexibility

- Contemporary Classroom programs are delivered in schools throughout the Denver/Boulder metro area. The educator will be provided with specific dates and locations as they are scheduled; 

-Other programs will be scheduled throughout the year.

Compensation & Benefits: This is a part-time employee position. 

  • $18-$22/hour depending on experience, approximately 20 hours a week
  • A mileage reimbursement of up to $1000 per calendar year will be supplied for scheduled remote teaching (to be prorated in 2022)
  • Free museum admission & free attendance to BMoCA programs and events

Health insurance and paid vacation are not included with this position.
