Shock Art - Call to Artists

Submit your SHOCK ART Design for Community Vote

Are you interested in applying to be a Shock Art artist in 2026?

Follow these steps:

• Create a hand-painted model 11”L x 10”W x 7.25”H
• The design needs to be uniquely your own, and hand painted.
• Complete the online submission form through this link.
• Deliver your model to one of the drop off locations before Friday April 17

  • Longmont Downtown District Authority (LDDA) 320 Main Street Longmont CO 80501 | Mon-Thurs 9a.m. – 5p.m; Fri 9a.m. – 4p.m; Closed weekends.

 After all submissions are submitted, the models will go on display (between April 20 and May 19) for the community to vote. The boxes with the most votes win the commission. Selected artists are compensated $2,000 for their time and materials. Up to 10 boxes are selected each year for a commission and painting happens in the summer and through the fall.

THEME

2026 is a historic anniversary year for both our state of Colorado (150 years) and our country (250 years). Alongside the open theme, we will commission at least one design inspired by the historic anniversaries. Artists may submit an artwork with one theme, but not both.
