Summer of Discovery Volunteers Needed at Boulder Public Library!

Teen and adult volunteers needed!  Apply to join our volunteer team to support Boulder Public Library District’s summer learning program. Encourage community members of all ages to read and learn, build skills and connections, help host events and facilitate activities, and earn service hours while reading! Volunteers must apply by May 20 and be 13 years old by June 1 to participate.

What do Summer of Discovery volunteers do? Volunteers support the program in two ways:

1. Encourage participation: Volunteers staff the SOD registration table at the library where kids, teens, and adults sign up to participate in the Summer of Discovery Program and collect celebratory prizes. Volunteers also read during registration shifts to lead by example and inspire others.

1. Help host Summer of Discovery events: The library offers events all summer long where participants can complete learning activities. Volunteers help library staff set up, welcome participants, facilitate activities, and clean up.

Volunteer Requirements and Commitment:

• All volunteers complete one training session May 23-28
• All volunteers serve at least 6 shifts in June and July
• Teen volunteers must be 13 years old by June 1
• Adult volunteers must pass a background check
• Returning volunteers help guide and support new volunteers
