NoBo Art District: Call for Exhibitions 2027

Description

NoBo Art District is seeking exhibition proposals for 2027 exhibitions at The Bus Stop Gallery. All artists are welcome to apply. If selected, we ask that you become a NoBo member prior to your exhibition.

We are looking for proposals that reflect on and speak to the current and historical human experience, engage the community, and showcase the diversity of the Boulder art community. Artists and arts organizations are encouraged to submit proposals for individual and group shows.

Proposals are encouraged to be experimental and exploratory while considering commercial viability. We’re looking for proposals built around a cohesive concept or body of work — your proposal images should give us a clear sense of what the show will look and feel like. We are also looking for exhibits that engage the community, so please include at least two event ideas tied to your show, such as an artist talk, panel discussion, workshop, performance, or anything else that fits with your show.

NoBo Bus Stop Gallery

4895 Broadway, Boulder CO, 80304

What used to be the BusStop Gentlemen’s club, still sitting at 4895 Broadway, has now evolved into the NoBo Bus Stop Gallery. The Bus Stop Gallery is the perfect location for showcasing the contemporary genius of the visual, performing, and classical arts. The five modern glass garage doors overlook a beautiful horizon, providing a safe refuge from the elemental exposure, viewing space for exhibits, live performances, and other outdoor events, as well as a modern industrial edge to the architectural atmosphere of the Bus Stop Gallery.

  • 40% commission on sales
  • Gallery rotates monthly – exhibitions approximately 3 weeks long
  • Includes weekly staffed regular gallery hours
  • Required 2+ artist-hosted events in addition to opening reception
  • High visibility on Broadway
  • Large gallery space – approximately 68 linear feet of wall space
  • View Bus Stop Gallery Schematics

Selection Process:

Exhibition proposals will be reviewed based on a variety of factors, including quality of work, scope and scale of works, an artist’s written narrative, and the artist’s / artworks impact to the community, as well as their inclusion of marginalized and underrepresented artists.

The NoBo selection committee will review the proposals with consideration given to:

  1. Creative Vision: a bold, original concept for your exhibition
  2. Craftsmanship & Cohesion: the quality and consistency of the body of work
  3. Community Impact: how the show will engage and resonate with our community
  4. Diversity: how your proposal broadens the mix of mediums and perspectives we showcase over the year
  5. Commercial Viability: the show’s potential to connect with buyers and support your work
