Leona Lazar’s Divas were inspired by the rhythms, textures, tempos and colors of music that filled her studio while sculpting “musicians” and “dancers.” Using exaggerated body gesture and expressions, Leona transformed paper clay into energized sculptures infused with the emotions she felt. Through this process, she explored the common language of visual art and music, creating ensembles that embody the essence of music.
Leona Lazar is a full-time sculptor living in Denver, Colorado. She is also the former Executive Director of the Art Students League of Denver.
