Part of Neil Simon's Eugene trilogy, "Biloxi Blues" centers on the experiences of a young army recruit, Eugene Morris Jerome, during World War II. At basic training in Biloxi, Mississippi, Eugene is determined to use his army experiences to help his writing career, and keeps detailed memoirs about his experiences. Eugene and his fellow soldiers-in-training suffer under a hard-nosed drill sergeant; deal with the terrible army food and bond over a visit to the local prostitute. Along the way, he discovers that life can be both ugly and tender.

Award-winning actress Kate Gleason makes her Miners Alley directorial debut with "Biloxi Blues." She has cast John Hauser (Eugene), John Wittbrodt (Epstein), Jude Moran (Toomey), Tait Peterson (Carney), Erik Fellenstein (Seldridge), Trevor Lyons (Wykowski), Eddy Jordan (Hennesey), Chloe McLeod (Daisy) and Devon James
(Rowena).

Neil Simon has written more than thirty plays and nearly the same number of movie screenplays, mostly adaptations of his plays. He has garnered 17 Tony nominations and won three. During one season, he had four successful plays showing on Broadway at the same time, and in 1983 became the only living playwright to have a New York theatre, the Neil Simon Theatre, named in his honor.

Biloxi Blues won the Tony Award for Best Play in 1985.
