This invitational show includes 24 artists who combine textile art with discards to challenge our perceptions about beauty, consumption, and our inner and outer worlds. Ugly, useless, or out-dated is transformed here into compelling and beautiful fiber art. From vintage hankies provocatively embroidered with the artist's own hair and 3D human organs created with fine threads, to vessels, sculptures, and wall hangings created with unusual materials, this exhibit will have visitors pondering the literal and figurative fabric of our material world.
Free Hands-On Demonstration: Saturday, September 16, 2 - 4pm. "Rust Printing on Paper & Cloth" with Mary Horrocks.
Rust printing is simple and accessible. The basic supplies are already in your kitchen or laundry room! After watching this demo and seeing what can be done, you'll never look at old rusty hardware the same way.
