Multiple Grammy® award-winning Takács Quartet returns to the Lakewood Cultural Center bringing its unique blend of drama, warmth and humor to the stage.

Recognized as one of the world’s greatest ensembles, Takács Quartet includes Edward Dusinberre and Károly Schranz, violins, Geraldine Walther, viola, and András Fejér, cello. The ensemble will perform the Quartettsatz by Schubert, Haydn's String Quartet Op. 76, No. 3 and Beethoven's String Quartet Op. 59, No. 1.

The Takács Quartet is renowned for its exacting standards and hugely engaging performances, and it enjoys an unsurpassed reputation throughout Europe, the U.S., Australia and Asia.  The group became the first string quartet to win the Wigmore Hall Medal on May 10, 2014. The medal, inaugurated in 2007, recognizes major international artists who have a strong association with Wigmore Hall. Appointed in 2012 as the first-ever associate artists at Wigmore, Takács presents six concerts every season there.

In 2012, Gramophone announced that Takács was the only string quartet to be inducted into its first Hall of Fame, along with such legendary artists as Jascha Heifetz, Leonard Bernstein and Dame Janet Baker. The ensemble also won the 2011 Award for Chamber Music and Song presented by the Royal Philharmonic Society in London. Based in Boulder at the University of Colorado, the Takács Quartet performs 90 concerts a year worldwide.

The 2014-2015 Lakewood Cultural Center Presents! season is generously supported by the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD), with appreciation to the citizens of the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District, 5280 Magazine, Colorado Creative Industries, and Denver Post Community, improving and enriching the lives of those in our community.
