.999 Spinning Coin Ring

Instructor: Deb Hamm

Pre-req: DSMA’s Metalsmithing I

Class Limit: 10

In this brand new workshop, Deb will show students how to make a ring that is PURE SILVER. Making a ring like this is considered to be a worthy heirloom that can be passed down through the generations of your family or can be kept as an investment in itself.

This is a light, comfortable, unusual, eye catching custom coin ring. Learn to make a coin of your own, or bring a coin to use. Students will learn layout, mark and set the coin (which will spin) with a cabochon mounted through the middle. Students will learn the “tap” method to bezel set the stone along with metal stamping. Students will also make a square shaped ring shank and learn Deb’s own polishing methods.

This pure silver ring will cost a little more and will be softer than sterling, but due to it’s thickness, will actually be very strong not to mention the value will be so much greater!

Students have the option of making this ring out of .999 Silver, Sterling Silver, or out of a coin they can bring to class.
